2. What data we collect

When you create an account and use Lecty, we store the following data:

3. Purpose of processing

Your data is used solely to provide the Lecty platform — in particular for authentication, displaying content, social interaction with other readers, sending notifications you asked for, and handling reports so we can keep the community safe. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or cross-app tracking.

4. Legal basis

Processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract), Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent, for example for notifications) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the security and abuse prevention of the service).

5. Retention and deletion

Your data is stored for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time under Profile → Settings → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: your profile, reviews, reading moments, discussion posts, lists, club memberships and push tokens are removed from our database. Server logs are deleted on a rolling basis.

6. Service providers we work with

We do not sell your data, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own purposes. To run the app we rely on the following providers:

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics services or tracking SDKs.

7. Hosting

Lecty runs on a server operated by Hostinger in the EU.

8. Cookies & local storage

Lecty does not use tracking cookies. For authentication, a JWT token is stored in your browser’s localStorage (in the iOS app, in its local storage). It contains no personal data and is removed when you log out. We also store small display preferences there, such as which notices you have dismissed.

9. What other people can see

Lecty is a social app. Your username, avatar, bio, reviews, reading moments and discussion posts are visible to other users, and posts inside a book club are visible to the members of that club. Your email address is never shown to other users. You can block other users and report content at any time.

10. Minimum age

You must be at least 14 years old to use Lecty. This follows the Austrian Data Protection Act, which sets 14 as the age from which you can consent to the processing of your data yourself. If you believe someone younger has created an account, contact us at hello@lecty.app and we will delete it.

11. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing (Art. 15–21 GDPR). For any request, contact us at hello@lecty.app. We respond within one month.

12. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority: www.dsb.gv.at

13. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your data, we update this page and the date below. Significant changes are announced in the app.
